About the Artist
Dennis White is a self-taught Canadian artist whose work is driven by a lifelong fascination with storytelling, emotion, and the beauty found in everyday life. Although he was captivated by art from an early age, he never believed he possessed the talent to become an artist. It wasn’t until the age of 28 that he picked up a paintbrush for the first time. The success of that very first painting gave him the confidence to continue, setting him on a journey that would ultimately shape his life’s work.
In the beginning, Dennis shared his paintings only with close family, held back by a fear of criticism and the belief that, without formal training, he wasn’t a “real” artist. Like many creative people, he struggled with self-doubt and imposter syndrome. Yet with every painting, his confidence grew. He discovered that talent is refined through persistence, and that every mistake is simply another step toward becoming a better artist.
Over the years, Dennis’s work found its way into galleries, exhibitions, and private collections. His career has included the creation of hundreds of large-scale murals and countless original paintings, each reflecting his desire to tell a story and evoke an emotional connection with the viewer. Whether portraying people, landscapes, or moments from everyday life, he strives to create artwork that invites viewers to pause, reflect, and feel.
For Dennis, painting is far more than a profession—it is a place of peace. When he stands before a canvas, time seems to disappear. Hours pass in what feels like minutes as he becomes completely immersed in the creative process. It is in those moments that he feels most alive.
His faith is also an important part of his artistic journey. Dennis views his ability to create as a gift from God and considers each painting an opportunity to develop and honour that gift. Gratitude, humility, and a continual desire to learn remain at the heart of everything he creates.
Today, Dennis continues to paint with the same excitement and curiosity that inspired him decades ago. His greatest hope is that each piece of art leaves viewers with more than an image—that it leaves them with a feeling, a memory, or a story they will carry with them long after they have walked away.

Every painting begins with a song. Dennis listens, and a scene appears — the faces, the light, the feeling of a moment held still. Look above each piece in the gallery to find the song that inspired it, and let the music play while you take it in.
